I am really sorry to hear that you went through this experience. Nothing should get in the way of user experience. A quick fix way to better site load times and higher conversion rates is to optimize the media on your website. The app should be something that can handle both images and videos, without adding any bloatware to your website.

I head product at fastshop. Fastshop does exactly this, and in an automated manner so you don't have to pick and choose what you want to optimize. It also does this on an ongoing basis. We also have a way to restore your original media so you never again risk a situation like the one you have been facing.

We have a free version that handles just 500 images every month - the paid version will handle both images and videos, unlimited. I hope fastshop is able to help you speed up your store and deliver an optimized experience.

@Rogers225 ,

I have checked your store.

Mobile performing score :

There is 3rd party code you cannot reduce the size, because we don't have control over 3rd party Apps.

Reduce unused js

Serve images in next-gen formats :

Image formats like JPEG 2000, JPEG XR, and WebP often provide better compression than PNG or JPEG. This means faster downloads and less data consumption.

You need to work on following points :

  • Theme Upgrade if there is a scope and upgraded theme available
  • Reduce JS Payload.
  • Use Critical CSS .
  • Replace GIFs With Static Images
  • Reduce Large Image Sizes
  • Migrate Tracking Codes To Google Tag Manager
  • Compress Images
  • Limit Third Party JavaScript & Shopify Apps
  • Preload Web Fonts.
  • I would suggest limiting to one and using a standard web font.

Hi @Rogers225,

This issue may be an outcome of the inaccurate optimization of your Shopify online store. It might have happened for one or all of the below-provided reasons.

  • CSS problem -  Some CSS files that load initially have been forced to stop while optimization work.
  • Lazyloading on javascript- Sometimes your store design depends on javascript which creates such issues.
  • Images height and width problem- Improper and out-of-order images might be an issue.
  • Lazyloading on google web fonts - Webfonts are responsible for your website’s first appearance, lazyloading web fonts can be the cause of the issue.

However, you can follow the below points to optimize your Shopify store correctly and avoid the issue.

  • Remove unused JavaScript.
  • Eliminate render-blocking resources.
  • Use minified CSS and JS files.
  • Replace GIFs with Static Images.
  • Compress larger images.
  • Avoid too many images on a single page.
  • Prioritize fonts from the Shopify admin panel.
  • Use Font-display property as swap.
  • Replace GIFs with static images.
  • Remove third-party JS scripts and Shopify App that are no longer in use.
  • Disable unused app features.
  • Clear app data while removing an unused app.
  • Avoid multiple page redirects.
  • Use video formats for animated content.
  • Preload the LCP image.
  • Avoid large layout shifts.
  • Set width and height on image elements to reduce layout shifts and improve CLS.
  • Replace large GIFs for animated content, with MPEG4/WebM videos.
  • Apply lazy loading on videos.

Hope it helps, if you still need any help let us know.

All the best!

Hello @Rogers225,

The faster your site is, the more users you are likely to convert. Follow the below tips that will help you decrease the load on your web pages.

1. Image compression is important and a necessity for faster loading web pages.

Make sure your images are of good quality and do not add too many images on a single page.

2. Reduce the HTTP requests.

For example: Combine & inline your CSS scripts

3. Minimize broken links and redirects - Avoid unnecessary Redirects and fix broken links

4. Using slideshow, which are high-quality images combined with transitions, take time to load when the user clicks the link to the homepage. So instead you can use a single high-quality hero image.

5. Always choose a theme that is responsive, fast, and takes minimal time to load the page If you choose a theme with numerous sliders, fancy animations, advanced navigation systems, etc., will affect your page speed. If your theme is loading slow, consider disabling the theme features you don't need.

6. Don't add too many images on a page Adding too many images on a page can be frustrating. It can significantly slow the load time of your website. Also, it can overwhelm visitors, which will ultimately result in a poor user experience, a high bounce rate, and a high probability of lower rankings in relative search results.

7. Use Lazyload wherever required to reduce initial load time

8. Remove all unwanted Shopify Apps which you are not using

You should disable app features you don't use, or you can remove the app if you don't need it. If you are removing an app make sure to remove code that was added as part of the app install process.

9. Replace GIFs with static images

10. You can run the Shopify Theme Inspector for Chrome to identify the lines of code that are slowing down pages in your online store.

11. You can use Google PageSpeed Insights to view more detailed metrics for pages in your store.

Google Search, the world's largest and most trusted FREE ecommerce channel will show more of your store to customers on Google Search if your site is fast. So site speed is critical for organic channel sales. Did you know, ecommerce on organic channels is greater than all paid ads and social media combined.
