I have done everything to figure this out but I am not a true tech person. My site visits have dropped by 80% and shopify has not been able to help. Is there a service out there that can check the issues? Thanks for all of your input on this urgent matter

Hi,

A slow Largest Contentful Paint (LCP) is one of the most critical factors in your website’s performance, especially when it comes to user retention. If the LCP is higher than expected, users are forced to wait too long for the main content of your page to load, which can lead to frustration and, ultimately, a drop in traffic.

A high LCP can cause potential customers to abandon your site before they even get a chance to engage with your content or make a purchase. This leads to higher bounce rates and reduced conversion rates, which negatively impacts your site’s overall performance.

How to Improve LCP and Retain More Visitors:

Optimize Images and Media Files:
Large images or videos can significantly slow down LCP. Ensure all images are properly compressed and use next-gen formats like WebP for faster load times.

Leverage Lazy Loading:
Implement lazy loading for non-essential content, so the browser prioritizes loading the most important elements, like images or key text, first.

As an alternative to manual optimizations, you can explore Website Speedy—our speed optimization Shopify App that handles performance enhancements automatically. It comes with a 14-day free trial, making it easy to test and implement optimizations. You can install it here: Website Speedy.

To help regain traffic, consider focusing on the following areas:

1. Analyze Traffic Sources:

Review your traffic sources in Google Analytics or Shopify reports. Identify if specific channels—such as social media, paid ads, or organic search—have seen a decline, and investigate the possible causes behind the drop.

2. Improve SEO:

Ensure your website is fully optimized for search engines. This includes improving keyword targeting, fixing broken links, enhancing content quality, and ensuring your site is mobile-friendly.

3. Content & Engagement:

Regularly update your content to keep it fresh and relevant. Reach out to your audience through blogs, newsletters, and social media to encourage return visits and engage with your community.

4. Check for Technical Issues:

Verify that your website is loading quickly, and check for any 404 errors or indexing/crawling issues that could affect search rankings or user experience.

5. Revisit User Experience:

A poor user experience, especially on mobile, can cause visitors to leave quickly. Test your website for usability issues and make improvements to ensure smooth navigation and faster load times.

By addressing these areas, you can improve your traffic and overall site performance over time.

Hi @Saba_Asmerom

Sorry to hear about that big drop in visits. Could you share a link to your store?

Also, can you explain a bit about what you are doing for marketing and have you had any big changes recently?

Kind regards
Laza
