Would also like to know what this is about. I am getting security messages regarding this.
"firefox.exe attempted to establish a connection relying on an untrusted certificate to monorail-edge.shopifysvc.com."
I'm curious what this is, too. Thanks!
My antivirus is blocking whatever this is. Please explain shopify
I also have the same issue. Is this something that we should be concerned about?
I've been having load page errors with this for some time. I have contacted support and after several emails, I still do not know what it is or where it comes from. I thought it was related to my homepage slider. I removed that but it remains. And, as of today it is loading THREE times or else I have 3 instances of it. It adds page load and I want it gone or to at least understands its purpose.
Getting the same anti-virus error message and trying to figure it out as well.
I finally got in touch with shopify. this is apparently what it is.
I got a response from our Technical Team.
So here's what they said, just have them add it to their exceptions, that is part of our load balancing system
Also, 100% safe, but because it redirects some anti-viruses don't like it
very good, does it make sense to you, it probably won't to me lol
yeah just have them hit that “add to exceptions” button and she shouldnt have any other issues :smile: its just an anti-virus being overly cautious
thank you again, have a good day
Yeah of course! It's kinda bothering since it's coming from the anti virus
I just don't understand why this file is becoming a bigger and bigger presence in my website loading. As of today it's making 5 requests per page load.
Apparently it's top top secret. This from the end of a 13 email enquiry with Shopify support:
I have been exhausting all available resources for you since this is very important. Through continuous research, I agree with you that this point back to Shopify. But just to set the proper expectation, it is an internal process of Shopify, which we cannot divulge any further information about.
That being said, the Technical Support team confirms that this has no major impact on your website and that you shouldn't worry about any harm affecting your website.
I truly hope for your understanding as we have reached an impasse on Shopify's side. You can also try to reach out to Google and get more information on what they can do on their side so that this does not show up as an error, because it is not supposed to have an impact leading to errors.
So we should just trust and not worry. Not the first time I have heard that!
@buttsonseats Seems like you got some major info from your support request;)
Hey Smeelah,
Glad to read your comment.
Did shopify mention how to remove this link <link href="https://monorail-edge.shopifysvc.com" rel="dns-prefetch">? It makes no sence while it is a 404 page.
404 Page kind of brings down the load speed sometimes.
I am talking with Shopify at the moment, the Guru is not good at code, not good at such issues.
In the meantime, I hope I could get some help from the internet.
Kind Regards
Amier
It seems we could just leave it, though it looks weird doing nothing there .
Yeah you could leave it but it gives me a ton of broken links as this piece of code is in the <head> tag of every single page of my shop. That leaves me with a link to a 404 from every page.
How do we remove this piece of code. I checked the theme,liquid page but it is not there.
Where is
<link href="https://monorail-edge.shopifysvc.com" rel="dns-prefetch">
this triggerd?
Hello, i have the same issue with
<link href="https://monorail-edge.shopifysvc.com" rel="dns-prefetch">
The header turns into a mobile view after the page load. Can anyone have a solution to this?
It's triggered in the "{{ content_for_header }}" section, a mandatory and non-customizable part all themes must have.
It's not always useful though. If you want to remove that part you can use my trick:
Find "{{ content_for_header }}" in your theme.liquid, and replace it with this:
{% comment %}{{ content_for_header }}{% endcomment %}
{{ content_for_header | remove: '<link href="https://monorail-edge.shopifysvc.com" rel="dns-prefetch">' }}
Worked for me! Thanks.
Doing this had a negative impact on our product page loading times. When I changed it back, performance improved again when measured using GTMetrix.
Good point! I checked my site and indeed pagespeed both by GTMetrix and Google pagespeed were significant lower. So I added the old code again.
But this means we still have this useless 404 error so I think it is time for Shopify to step up and DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS!
Same experience here. In the theme.liquid file of Dawn theme, I replaced line 45, which was an else statement of {{ content_for_header }}, with {{ content_for_header | remove: '<link href="https://monorail-edge.shopifysvc.com" rel="dns-prefetch">' }}. After doing this I ran the PageSpeed Insights from Google and had a performance rating of 79. I was frustrated as this score was 89 before adding the code above. Well, after removing what I had added and going back to the original {{ content_for_header }} the performance score jumped to 92. Weird, but ok!
Unable to Update using Dawn Theme
It gives nothing. The effect is zero. Pointless action
The 404 issue can 100% be resolved, please do so for our customers.
for 3 years now as no one solves this problem.
Same deal as of today. I got this from support:
As per back end this is a normal part of a Shopify store. It helps run Shopify Analytics, and it should not cause any problems for page speed (the calls it makes are very tiny). This is for conducting tests on stores with various tools, including Chrome inspector tools, multiple calls to something called "produce" or https://monorail-edge.shopifysvc.com/v1/produce
Same pb not resolved, need to change my theme...
We are having slow down issues from produce_batch a similar call.
Can anyone of you assist
