Hello,

I am trying to connect images I have on my Dropbox with +1000 products using CSV.

I didn't succed. Because when I try it manually (going to each product and add image from url), I get this error:

Media upload failed

  • Image: File extension doesn't match the format of the file.

I tried to adapt url like this :

https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fo/......./.............&dl=0

https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fo/......./.............&dl=1

https://dl.dropbox.com/scl/fo/......./.............&dl=0

https://dl.dropbox.com/scl/fo/......./.............&dl=1

But still getting same error.

Thanks

Hello,

There was a change to either Shopify or Dropbox in early February that made it so that uploading images from a Dropbox URL would no longer work. A number of people have encountered this and I've written some more details in this post.

To summarize, it no longer works and unfortunately it seems like your only options are to either store the images elsewhere or to use a third-party app (like our Ablestar Bulk Product Editor) to import the image URLs. Mentioning the issue with Shopify support might also help raise awareness for the problem.

Hello Daniel,

I am facing the issue , wherein the import csv is giving error with the image URL, which is a DropBox link.
I understand that you mentioned Ablestar can solve this problem. Please can you elaborate on the same . As in solve the problem wherein we still are able to use the Drop Box link or do we shift the images to cloud based platforms?

Thank You

Hi @SolitaireBox,

Yes, our Ablestar Bulk Product Editor app should be able to upload images directly from the Dropbox URLs without having to move them to another platform first.

Normally when you import a product you just send Shopify the URL to the image(s) and it downloads and processes them. With the Dropbox URLs though, Ablestar will first download the image directly from Dropbox, and then upload it to Shopify so that Shopify can handle it.

The formats of the URLs do change from time to time though so if you are still having problems with the images not coming through just let us know and we can get it fixed for you.

Best,

Daniel

We are adding he products to our shop now through the import method(csv).
So do we continue with the same and then Ablestar will take it up or does Ablestar has a different product template?

I am filling the excel now, so just want to avoid rework/ double efforts.

Thank You

Ablestar Bulk Product Editor can accept most CSVs (including the standard Shopify template). When you upload the spreadsheet you can configure which columns connect with which field. This way the order and specific names of the columns in the spreadsheet don't matter.

In other words, no need to reformat it

Daniel

SOLVED.

All you you have to do is to replace "dropbox.com" to "dl.dropboxusercontent.com" in the dropbox image links. It works.
