Why can't I change the compare at price for products with variants?

Hi,

After saving I don’t see the spot to change compare at price anymore for products that have variants. For product that doesn’t have variant the compare at price box is still there for me to change. And for some product that compare at price is not displaying, I don’t see the box to add compare at price.

1. From your Shopify admin, go to Products.

2. Click the name of a product.

3. In the Pricing section, set the Compare at price to the product's original price.

4. Set the Price of the product to your new sale price.

5. Save

I have the same issue.  Unfortuntely Zworthkey didn't understand the problem. 

When variants are added and only when the product has been saved and exited then you go back into the editing screen, the Pricing section (as The member below has shown in the screen shot) actually disappears from the product editing screen. 

So there is no way of editing the Compare at Price, on a product with variants once it's been saved for the first time.  The pricing section with the Compare at Price ceases to exist in the editing form.

On more investigation, I've found the only way to the get the Pricing section back in the edit screen, is to delete all the variants.   So you have to delete all your variants, reset the Compare at Price, then add them all again with their quantities.   What a pain!    Seems like a little bug in the system.

Still learning!   There is a way, but its just not that intuitive.   

Once your variants are added, then yes the main Pricing section disappears on the edit screen. 

You will need to go down to your variant quantities and click on Variant - 'Expand all'.     Then you need to click on the wording for the variant value by which the quantity is listed.   So if there is a colour Brown in 3 different sizes, clicking on the word Brown won't work,  but if you click on the text for the size  i.e. Medium then a new screen will open.   On that screen you are then able to change all the information relating to the different variants.  It lets you change compare at price again, for that individual variant.
