Hi @iwallstarsdesig,

Thank you for reaching out to the Community! I'm happy to provide some assistance with connecting your domain. To confirm I'm fully understanding, are you transferring a Shopify-managed domain from an existing Shopify store over to another Shopify store?

If so, you can easily transfer a Shopify-managed domain from one store to a different Shopify store from the Domains section of the Shopify admin. We have a great Transferring Shopify-Managed Domains document that I recommend checking out, as it touches on these steps in further.

It outlines however, that you can:

  • Head into the Domains section, from within the Shopify admin.
  • In the Domains section, click the name of the domain that you want to transfer.
  • Click Domain settings > Transfer to another Shopify store.
  • Confirm that your store owner email address is up to date, and then click Send transfer link.
  • When you receive the transfer email message, do one of the following:
    • If you're the other store's owner or a staff member with the Transfer domain to another Shopify store permission, then click the transfer link in the email text and log in to the Shopify store where you want to transfer the domain.
    • If you're not the other store's owner or a staff member with the Transfer domain to another Shopify store permission, then forward the email message to someone who has the appropriate permission for that store.

It's important to note, that the store owner or staff member with the appropriate permission needs to log in to the Shopify store directly from the transfer link in the email message. If this step is not completed, the domain transfer will be unsuccessful.

If however, you're looking to add a third-party domain to your shop, I recommend reviewing our Connecting A Third-Party Domain document for steps on how to successfully complete this. It provides you with the appropriate DNS Records to successfully ensure the domain is pointing towards Shopify.

We have a great Set Up Video that touches on these steps, but can also check out our Manual Set Up Documentation as well. It outlines, you can:

  • On your domain provider’s website, log in to your account.
  • Find the DNS settings or domain management area.
  • Change the following records:
    1. Point the A record to the Shopify IP address 23.227.38.65.
    2. If necessary, change the Host name to the @ symbol.
    3. Delete any other A records on the domain if there are any present.
    4. Point the CNAME record with the name www to shops.myshopify.com.
  • Save your changes.
  • From your Shopify admin, go to Settings > Domains.
  • Click Connect existing domain.
  • Enter your domain, such as johns-apparel.info, and then click Next.
  • To confirm that your domain is connected to your Shopify store, click Verify connection.

After taking a closer look, it seems the domain currently has multiple A Records attached to it. Due to this, I recommend making this correction and allowing for 48 hours to pass. This will ensure the domain has enough time to successfully propagate. If after 48 hours, the error continues please feel free to Contact Support

Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns.

Hi Blair,

First of all, thanks for your support and guidance.

And, as you have suggested above, I have deleted all the A records and other irrelevant records which were no more relevant and updated the Shopify records as per your guidance.

Secondary, I am facing one more issue. As I was planning to start marketing from Monday, When I tried to connect to Facebook and Instagram Sales Channel, I got an error which states "This Facebook Account is not eligible for setup" , "We don't offer shop or catalogue setup in your region", I have uploaded the screenshot below for reference.

Can you please guide me through this also.

Hi @iwallstarsdesig,

Thank you for the prompt response! I'd be happy to provide some assistance with setting up your Facebook and Instagram accounts.

To get started, I'd encourage you to review our Setting Up Your Facebook Shop documentation. It outlines a list of requirements that your shop will need to meet in order to list products on Facebook using the Facebook Shop feature and within Instagram by Meta.

These requirements include:

As the error you're seeing is related to your region, it may mean that Facebook Shop is not yet supported within your country and/or region. While I can completely understand how that may not be ideal, hopefully Meta looks to expand this sometime within the future.

Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns.

Hi @Scott_msutfu,

Thank you for reaching out to the Community. I'm happy to provide some assistance with connecting your domain to the shop. To confirm I'm fully understanding, are you connecting a third-party domain to the shop?

If so, I'd encourage you to review our Connecting A Third-Party Domain document for steps on how to successfully connect the domain to your shop. It provides you with the appropriate DNS Records to successfully ensure the domain is pointing towards Shopify.

It outlines, that you can:

  • Head over to your domain provider’s website and log in to your account.

If you have reviewed the steps outlined above, but continue to receive an error, please attempt the following local troubleshooting steps to see if this helps to resolve:

  • Clear your Cache and Cookies.
  • Access the shop in an Incognito Tab.
  • Try accessing the shop from Another Browser (i.e Chrome, Firefox, or Safari).
  • Try Another Device.
  • Try accessing from the Shopify Mobile App.
  • Try Restarting your device.
  • Make sure your device is Up To Date.

If after attempting all of the steps outlined above, you continue to receive that error, please Contact Us directly. This will allow our advisor team can take a closer look and ensure it's resolved as quickly as possible.

Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns.

Hi Blair, im having similar difficulties, after repointing the domain, the site is intermittently online - then offline for the past day.

Re Shopify instructions re the A Record, to "change the Host name to the @ symbol", my domain registrar does not allow me replace the domain name with the @ symbol, so I have the below:

A Record       @.domain-name.com     23.227.38.65

will this work?

thanks

Hi @Bruce28,

Thank you for getting in touch!

When it comes to pointing the domain to Shopify, you will want to connect with the domain provider to ensure the DNS Records have been completed correctly. They will be able to share more information with you on how the A Record can be changed!

Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns.
