My shop is connected to both FB & IG and everything was working fine. I got a suspicious activity notice from IG the other day and had to change my password. Now I can't tag products in my feed. Previously tagged products are still tagged and the Shop link still works, but if I add a new post and then go to Edit the post in order to add product tags, there's no longer an option to Tag Products, just People. I'm sure it has something to do with the password change, but I don't know how to reconnect things so I can once again make posts shoppable.
Hi, @AdaptiveReuser.
Thanks for reaching out and posting in the Shopify Community!
Since you're unable to tag your products on Instagram, can you confirm that your product catalogue is connected? You can check this by going to your Shopify admin > Facebook Sales Channel > Instagram Shop.
To go through each troubleshooting step, could you check and confirm the following:
We'll need to ensure the correct accounts are connected and linked to your Instagram Shop and the Instagram app. Once we receive this information we may need to do further troubleshooting to identify if an account has been disconnected during the process.
I'm not sure if you've looked into this already, but I'd like to share how you can display your Instagram feed on your Shopify store. This can be helpful to customers as they can browse your feed while they shop and connect with you on other social networks. The app Instafeed - Instagram Feed is free to install and allows you to display your feed, turn store visitors into customers and you can customize how users view your feed. If you'd like to explore more feed slider options, check out the Shopify App Store.
We look forward to hearing back!

Hi Victoria,
Thanks for the reply. Yes, all of those things are in order. There is no indication that the Shopify & Instagram connection is down in any way other than this issue with Product tagging. Which is a bit odd since I did have to change my IG password. I'm thinking that I'll have to disconnect everything and start over, but I don't want to disrupt the shopping features that are still working.
Thanks for your reply, @AdaptiveReuser.
Before disconnecting the sales channel/your shop, I recommend contacting Instagram Support. This is because we've gone through each troubleshooting step to confirm the products appear in the catalogue and this is the same catalogue in the Instagram app that the Facebook channel uses. The scope of support for this issue would be directly related to the Instagram app.
You can navigate to Instagram's Help Center page to report a technical problem on Instagram. The instructions on how to do so are in the help center document linked here.
Let us know if you have any additional questions or concerns.

Hi Victoria,
Our Instagram product tags has suddenly stopped showing on Iphone. But they are visible on Android. Before the latest iOS updates we were able to tag the products on Instagram but suddenly they earlier product tags have disappeared on Iphone but are visible on Android.
And currently the tags are not showing on both Android and Iphone after the latest update of iOS 16.
OUr account is very well connected with Facebook shop and shopify without any policy violation.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi, @vikramrokade.
Thank you for joining the thread and sharing your question here.
If I understand correctly, after updating to iOS 16 on your iPhone, you're no longer able to tag products on Instagram.
I've located this Troubleshooting Product Tagging Issue for Shopping Partners and About Instagram Shopping Product Tag Approvals from Instagram's Help Center. I'll share below what steps you can take to ensure product tagging is re-enabled.
If after following the above steps the product tagging is not enabled, I recommend contacting Instagram Support directly. The reason is, Shopify supports the product catalogue that the Facebook Channel creates, but does not support the Instagram app itself. You can report a technical problem by following the steps on Instagram's Help Center page.
Lastly, I'd love to hear what other ways you connect with your customers. Have you already explored Twitter Shopping and Pinterest?

Did you solve this? I am having the same problem now…
Yes, i would. Am having the same problem right now... All worked just fine, untill a week ago. Checked FBM and catalogue and everything shows well connected (no issues or errors). All previous product tags in posts are still vissible, but cannot Tag any products in new posts anymore as it shows 'not available'. When i click on the info it's mentioning 'This product is not using the domain which you have selected for Instagram shopping'. We didn't change any setting or something before, the error just came out of nowhere... How did you fix it? Thanks helping
Thanks for your quick reply the other day 🙂 In the meantime it's fixed. Believe managed to do it, by going in the FBM --> product catalogue --> and republish the product catalogue again. From there it was during about 1 day / 24 hours, untill the notification came into our Instagram account, that product catalogue was succesfully published, and from there it worked again.
For those who are still having the same problem as I do as of 2023-08-22 😕
I found a solution after spending 3 hours, hope this will save everyone else's time!
My situation: all products from my shopify shop were visible on both FB and IG shops, but I weren't able to tag any of the products on my IG post since they appeared to be grey when trying to tag products.
Solution: In your Meta business commerce manager page, go to Settings, then go to Catalog, check under Websites. I use my own website domain for my shopify shop, but it was actually under "not connected", so I had to re-submit to make my products to be available for post tagging again. It took about half an hour to approve.
Good luck, hope it helps!
Yes, i was able to fix it to after 1 or 2 days, when testing some things. Eventually the thing that pulled it of (i believe) was the Meta Business Suite, then watch in your Product catalogue and try to RE-SUBMIT your product assortment (if not already done/connected), then wait 24hours and fingers crossed. Still not know why it suddenly lost the connection, but then you know a bit were to look for the solution 🙂
I'm quite certain this time was caused by the new facebook for shopify app plugin. But from time to time it has been troublesome dealing with IG and FB alone, very exhausting for small business makers like me who know nothing about programming 😔
I had similar issue. Even did what you did. But unforunatly this didn't work for me. So just on searching I went to my IG app > settings> business tool>shopping>
and to my surprise, what did i saw.
My IG is not eligible for SHOP feature. Then how the hell, my SHOP is active on FB and IG both. Attached is my screenshot.
Raised this isssue to meta support, with whome I am already cimmunicating for last 4-5 days now to relsove this tagging issue. Trust me I even asked them to do a zoom or google meet call with me and but they evertime send a new step to do and never I find a solution to this issue.
Don't know what really going on here.
