Why does my 'add to cart' button keep spinning on Dawn theme?

Hi! The 'add to cart' button just spins forever when pressed. I can press any payment option and it works pretty fast. The 'add to cart' button needs to be fixed asap. What do I do?

To rule out any local or browser caching issues, you can follow the troubleshooting steps below to begin with:

 

  • Try to access your website and test the add to cart button via an incognito window
  • Or, you can use your usual browser but to clear the browser's cookies and cache before accessing your website
  • You can also try another browser. For example, if you're using Safari, you can try this on Chrome or Firefox
  • You can also try to use another device, such as your mobile or a tablet

 

Are you also using a third-party app to control your store's products or cart functionality? Or have you perhaps installed any third-party apps to your store recently?

 

If so, you can try to disable the app's features if it's available to do so within the app, to see if the issue will be fixed. You can also try and install a fresh copy of a Shopify theme by going to Online store > Themes > Explore free themes and select Dawn (or different Shopify theme) to add to your library. From there, click on Actions > Preview, and you can then test your store's cart button to see if it will allow you to successfully add a product to cart.

 

If the issues don't persist on the fresh theme, a third-party app may be interfering with how your store's cart is meant to function. Any newly added or third-party codes on your theme may also be the cause of this issue.

Hi Kimi,

You are right. The new version of the Dawn theme works better. Only thing is now I need to redo part of my website to suit the new updates in the  Dawn theme. Sigh. A little more work but I will get there. Thank you for your assistance.

Not a problem, @Sylvia_S! I'm glad to hear that the fresh copy of Dawn is functioning as intended.

 

Were you using an older version of the Dawn theme, before you installed the fresh copy? Or was it exactly the same version as the fresh copy? 

 

The newest version of the Dawn theme at the moment is Version 7.0.1, which introduced several bug fixes. It's a good idea to update your theme's version as soon as a new updated version is released, as these newer versions usually include bug fixes and features that weren't available within the previous version.
