Why does my CSV file import show a weight error?

While importing my CSV file, there's always an error that says:

There was an error importing your CSV file. After you fix the error, try importing the CSV file again.

• Weight isn't a number

I tried to use lbs and g and for some reason it's still not accepting my file.

I don't need it to be a specific number with the commas in between, just the weight unit.

Any ideas? Thanks

Thank you for reaching out to the Community! I'm happy to provide some assistance with using CSV files, to ensure this gets resolved. To confirm I'm fully understanding, are you including a weight value for products within the CSV file? 

If not, you will want to ensure this is completed prior to uploading to the Shopify admin. The CSV file is a great way to add and update products in bulk, but follows a very specific format in order to be successfully uploaded to the Shopify admin. I recommend checking out our Using CSV Files documentation for guidance on this, as well as a Sample CSV that can be used as a template.

Touching on weight specifically, this is a required field that needs to be included within the CSV file. For more information on required columns, you can check out our Description Of The Product CSV File documentation as it touches this further. It outlines that the Variant Grams columns must include: 

• The weight of the product or variant in grams. Don't specify a unit of measurement or use decimals. For example, for a weight of 5.125 kg, enter 5125.

You do need it to be a specific number, that's why the error is telling you that weight isn't a number 🙂 lbs and g are not numbers so they won't work.
