Why does my forwarded email often fail on my registered domain?

hi there

when i test the emails to my shopify register domain email address it seldom fails. This makes me concerned as to how many emails i am missing. 

can you please explain why this happens? i send email to info@prettybosslady.com and only after the third or fourth email does it come through to the forwarded address. is there an issue with the forwarding of emails withing shopify?

Welcome to the Shopify Community!

All new email addresses that you create in your Shopify admin must be forwarded to an existing email address hosted by a third-party, for example, Gmail or Outlook. You can set up forwarding from one or more store email addresses to an existing email address. Each store email address can forward to only one third-party email address.

Note: Third-party email hosts that enforce Domain Keys Identified Mail (DKIM) can't be used as an email forwarding address. AOL and Yahoo are examples of email hosts that enforce DKIM.

To help ensure that email messages are forwarded successfully, add a Sender Policy Framework (SPF) record to your Shopify-managed domain.

If you have added the SPF record and still not receiving the email then I'd recommend reaching out to our live support team to troubleshoot this further.

1. From your Shopify admin, go to Settings > Domains.

2. Click the domain that you set up your custom email forwarding address for.

3. Click Domain settings > Edit DNS settings.

4. Click Add custom record, and then click TXT Record.

5. Enter @ as the Name.

6. Enter v=spf1 include:_spf.hostedemail.com ~all as the TXT value.

7. Click Confirm.
