Hi,
ever since i've upgraded my theme to Dawn 13.0 my store is soooo slow according to shopify and google. I dont know what the problem is. Ive deleted all apps i dont use. Google says my CLS rate is 0,21 but i have no clue how to fix this and shopify says all settings are correct in shopify.
Could you maybe help me out by taking a look at what i could do to improve?
Webshop is: www.klipoorbellen.com
Thanks!
Hello @Klipoorbellennl
I have checked your store on google page speed https://pagespeed.web.dev/analysis/https-www-klipoorbellen-com-nl-be/nn1m2feog8?form_factor=mobile mobile - 53
You need to optimize these things
Reduce the impact of third-party code Third-party code blocked the main thread
Eliminate render-blocking resources
Largest Contentful Paint element
Defer offscreen images
Properly size images
Minify CSS
Reduce unused CSS
Minify JavaScript
Ensure text remains visible during webfont load
Image elements do not have explicit width and height
Reduce unused JavaScript
If you are unable to do optimize you can hire any developer
Thank you so much for your help! Is there a dummy proof way of improving your speed? I now a bit about coding and such but when i try to find the codes of apps in my theme code, i cant seem to find much....
Is there an easier way?
Hello @Klipoorbellennl they are bit complicated for normal users, if you search on google with each issue you will find solution.
Hello @Klipoorbellennl,
To tell the story short - your store speed is mostly dependent on loading heavy files (images/videos) and/or adding 3rd party scripts that could remain after removing the apps. I would mostly look for those extra scripts, the Shopify expert will need only a couple of hours to identify what is left.
My team has huge experience in speed optimization. There are several non-trivial aspects to consider.
Please, get in touch if you need any assistance.
Best regards,
Anastasia
The speed issue is a completely different story. It requires looking at 50 different items and coming up with solutions. Intervening in the software, etc. On a limited platform like Shopify, the easiest thing you can do is optimize the images before uploading them. Of course, professional solutions would be better, but I think it's more appropriate to consider getting them done when you're thinking of expanding your business.

Best Regards,
I see my speed on desktops is now good, i am fairly happy with that. However i see my mobile speed is drasticly low. Is there anything I can do to improve that that doesn't mess up my desktop speed?
If you're asking for my opinion, if the 'Time to First Byte' on mobile is under 1 second, then there's no need to do anything at the moment. Of course, 1 second won't apply to distant places like Japan or Australia. For example, if you're targeting sales in Europe, then under 1 second is a good value. I'm sending you the link below. From there, you can check this rate for any country you want. Of course, the faster, the better for sales, but for what you want, firstly, you need to host your site on your own private VPS, not something like Shopify.
Besides that, a lot of expertise is required to implement many things. In short, it's a long story. For now, optimize your images and if your system supports it, I recommend doing it in WebP format. I won't go into HTML DOM events yet. Remember, Shopify provides an optimal and secure base only for those who know nothing about it. There's no other company in the world that provides more, but of course, with a special budget and the right people, many things are possible. Also, in systems like Shopify, users sometimes install too many apps without realizing it. The more you install, the slower the system becomes. Maybe you need to delete some of these excess apps for now?
Actually, there's no perfect system in the world. But if your budget is limited, follow my above advice and just focus on improving your work. If there are minor design changes on the front end of your site, you can write them here again. Many developers, including myself, will help you with this for free.
