Why is my domain still showing SSL pending after DNS settings update?

Hello,

I am trying to connect my domain to my store and cannot seem to do so.

I have updated the A and CNAME in the domain provider account.  (Crazy Domains)

But I still have SSL pending for the site starting with www. And I am unable to see my store.  I keep getting a 421 Misdirect Request.

Just want to confirm I have done the correct thing and I just need to wait out the SSL pending issue?

We have a product launch we need the site up in the next 48 hours.

THank you

E

Hi @CUB365

Thanks for reaching out, and welcome to the Shopify Community!

I understand that you are in the process of connecting your third-party domain to your Shopify store, and have noticed it says SSL pending. I'd be happy to troubleshoot this with you here.

I checked the domain in your screenshots, and from what I can tell it looks like the SSL cert has been provisioned, and it is working as normal. Can you confirm that this is the case for you also? It's possible that because you have only recently connected the domain, it simply needed more time to establish your SSL cert. Any changes to domains such as DNS edits can take anywhere up to 48 hours to fully propagate on the internet. Are you still seeing the pending status in your Shopify admin?

I had a look at your store, and I think it's looking really good! I had a couple of suggestions for things you can do to make it even better:

  • Consider adding an 'about us' page, or in this case as the store is about you then it might be 'about me' or 'biography' etc. These pages can be very beneficial to your store, as they can help you tell more of a story about your business. This is important, because it will keep customers coming back to your brand and help them connect more. It also creates trust with your customers which can help with making sales.
  • I see you haven't yet added a favicon to your store. Favicons are the small logos that appear when you open a new tab in a browser. They also display in your saved bookmarks, so your customers will see a more polished-looking store when browsing and you will enhance your store’s branding by adding one.

Hey there @chineduudeze

Thanks for reaching out here for help! Welcome to the Shopify Community, I can see this is your first post here.

I understand that your website is not loading, and you are seeing an error that says '421 Misdirected Request'. I'd love to dig into this and help you troubleshoot the issue, however a little bit more context will be required in order for me to get a better understanding of what is happening, and the process that led to this issue.

Is this a third-party domain that you recently tried to connect to your store, or perhaps this is a Shopify domain that you purchased but experienced issues with accessing? If third-party, did you follow the steps outlined on this resource here to connect the domain, making sure to copy the DNS settings exactly and allowing up to 48 hours propagation time?

I tried accessing the domain provided of thebrandofgod.com, and I am happy to say it appears to be functioning normally for me. I can access the store, and I am not seeing any errors at all. I had a brief check on the DNS setup, and from what I can tell the A Record and the CNAME are correctly set up, and all is functioning as expected.

If you are still experiencing issues, please let me know and be sure to include as much information as possible. If you feel like screenshots of your DNS setup would be beneficial, feel free to post them here. Also, a screenshot of the Settings > Domains section of your Shopify admin would be useful too.

Looking forward to hearing back from you!
