I'm using Shopify email automation, but the store name in emails is wrong and I've already checked store name in Settings which is correct. What I have to do to update store name in emails?

Thank you

Hi there, @veronicaw. Thanks for jumping into the Shopify Community with your question today. It's great to meet you!

I actually helped another merchant with this exact same issue on a different thread that you can access using this link. To summarize, the automations will include the store name you had in 'Settings > Store Details' at the moment of automation creation. You will have to delete the automations, and then re-create them, to have the name update.

What sort of automations are you running, @veronicaw? I'd love to know more about what you're setting up for! Is this for abandoned cart emails, or for some digital marketing! I'd love to chat about it!

Give the steps that I outlined in the linked thread a try and then let me know if you need any additional assistance!

Hey Imogen. Thank you for your reply. I tried what you suggested: I've deleted the old flow and created a new one, but I still have the problem.

Thank you

Hey there, @veronicaw. Thank you for getting back to me.

Are you able to provide a screenshot of the specific area in your email template for your automation where your store name doesn't seem to be changing?

Can you also double-check to make sure that the store name you have in 'Settings > Store Details' has been updated to what you desire it to be?

Hey Imogen,

My store name is correct.

As you see in the photo, in the email automation the store name is not capitalised as in the settings.

Thank you

Thanks for following up with that info, @veronicaw!

So with the issue being a capitalization problem, I don't believe that this wording is pulling from the 'Store Details' section, but it's hard for me to know for sure without some more info. Can you please provide me with the following:

  • Can you provide me with a screenshot of the entire email as you see it when editing it?
  • Can you tell me what type of 'section' this wording is sitting in in the template? You should be able to determine this by clicking on the area of the email template that has this wording in it.

I tried to recreate your screenshot in my own store with my own automations and it looks like what you have in your screenshot is a 'text' section that houses the store name wording, and a 'divider' section that is housing that line. If this is the case, you should be able to click on the area surrounding the store name and then edit the store name once that's been done.

Hi Imogen,

That is the store name section.

Thank you.

Hey again, @veronicaw. Apologies for the late reply. I was away for a few days but I'm back in office now and following up with folks.

Thank you for providing that last screenshot. It looks like the particular section you're trying to edit is your 'header' for a newsletter automation email. These email templates have strict coding to allow for these automations to work seemlessly, which explains the difficulty in editing your store name.

This header section does take the info from the 'Store Name' box in 'Settings > Store Details' at the time of automation creation. If you update your store name in 'Store Details', and create a brand new automation, you will see that the store name should be updated to capitalized letters. I was able to do this in my own store with all of the automation templates I tried.

If you find that you're still unable to get this working properly, then I recommend that you reach out to our Live Team using this link. They'll be able to authenticate you, and dive into why the steps I've outlined don't seem to be working for you.

Once you get everything working as expected, crafting those next level marketing emails is going to be super important. Here's a Shopify Blog we wrote on how to make some awesome marketing emails!

Hi Imogen,

I am having the same issue. I have changed my shop name in settings, but my abandoned cart automation, even after deleting it and re-creating per your instructions above, still have my old store name. Help!

Thanks!

Thanks for giving us some options - I'm struggling with the same issue myself.

I believe this is a bug, rather than a feature.  Some automations are complex and there is risk of issues and introducing bugs (and not to mention the hassle of having to delete many-step automations that have already been tested and working).

Would you be able to help us by reporting this as a bug internally, so that the automations can pull the current name vs. a hard-coded name?  I can see that on store automations there is one place that pulls from the *current name* and one that pulls the original name, so clearly pulling the current name has been implemented in some areas successfully.

Let us know if you'd be able to report this as a bug for us, so it can be fixed in the long term.

And thanks so much for  your help so far and shedding some light.
