Hi! My website is suddenly very slow and we recently launched a new website. We run a test on lighthouse and gtmetrix and it looks like it is something to do with the coding of our site. Can someone help us? Our website is www.blackbookfashion.com

Any feedback will be much appreciated.

Thank you!

@LauraBBF , Hope you are doing well.

To increase the speed of a website, we have to keep below key points in mind while do the developement:

- Optimize images by compressing and reducing file sizes.
- Minify CSS and JavaScript files to remove unnecessary characters and whitespace.
- Optimize installed apps for better performance and remove unused ones.
- Minimize redirects to reduce page load time.
- Remove unused code and scripts from your theme.
- Regularly monitor and optimize your website using performance tools.

Hello @LauraBBF

I have checked your site in the Google Page Insights tool. There is a low score on your website. It needs to be improved, especially on mobile device.

Pass core web vitals: In order to pass the Core Web Vitals assessment, you need to score “good” for all three Core Web Vitals—Largest Contentful Paint (LCP), First Input Delay (FID) and Cumulative Layout Shift (CLS)—based on field data.

Below are some factors that might impact the speed of your online store, and how you can address them.

We’ve had the best success for our clients by working with our developers to implement the lazy sizes because it's quite complicated for non-technical people.

You need to work on the following points:

  • Theme Upgrade if there is a scope and upgraded theme available
  • Reduce JS Payload.
  • Use Critical CSS.
  • Reduce Large Image Sizes
  • Migrate Tracking Codes To Google Tag Manager
  • Compress Images
  • Limit Third-Party JavaScript & Shopify Apps
  • Preload Web Fonts.

I suggest limiting it to one and using a standard web font.

By fixing these issues, your website speed score can definitely improve.

If anything needs to be included or clarified then feel free to ask.  We will surely help you.
