Why is my online store not accessible in Safari despite correct DNS settings?

Issue as stated in the subject.

We have contacted our web hosting company and they have double checked our DNS settings.

They are certain that there is nothing wrong with the setup and the site should be working.

We have tested the store on various other browsers and it seems to be working fine.

I have also tried clearing my cache and updating IOS on my own apple device, but I am still unable to access our site via my device on safari.

I keep being served with a 403 error stating that the site is forbidden.

Please would it be possible to advise how we can fix this?

Hi, @jbell1

Welcome to the Shopify Community and thank you for sharing your question here.

I understand that you're unable to navigate to your website on a Safari browser as you're receiving a 403 Forbidden error. However, you've tried on additional browsers and cannot replicate the error.

For better visibility, could you please share your store URL and a screenshot of the error message? I'd like to test your website on different devices and browsers to see if I can replicate the issue. With this information, we can investigate if it's an issue rooted in the domain itself or if it's a local issue.

What domain host are you using? The 403 Forbidden error may indicate that the domain settings are not correctly pointing to Shopify's records. Could you double-check your domain settings within your domain provider to ensure it's using Shopify's records? I'll share what information to look for/include below.

Change your DNS records in your third-party domain provider account:

  • Within your domain provider DNS settings, Point the A record to the Shopify IP address: 23.227.38.65
  • Delete any other A records on the domain if there are any present.
  • Point the CNAME record with the name www to: shops.myshopify.com

Once you've adjusted this information it may take up to 48 hours for your domain to be verified. After it's verified, your domain is listed in the THIRD-PARTY DOMAINS section of the Domains page with the status Connected. For more information, check out our resource on connecting your third-party domain to Shopify manually

Please let us know if the above steps have helped or if you have any additional questions! I'd also love to hear more about what kind of online store you're working on.
