1. API documentation under PUBLISHED is grammatically incorrect. URL = https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/products/import-export/using-csv#product-csv-file-format
Column PUBLISHED wording should be made clear such as:
Currently: "Valid values are TRUE. If the product is published on your online store, or FALSE. If the product is hidden from your online store."
Change to: Valid values are TRUE, if the product is published on your online store. Or FALSE, if the product is hidden from your online store.
2. Using the IMPORT Product template, I specified all products as TRUE. I noticed that everything uploaded was published to the Online Store but not the POS Channel.
If this is expected behaviour, it would be good to specify it on the documentation page in the link above - that PUBLISHED refers to Online Store only and there listing something in the POC Channel requires going to the Bulk EDitor and doing it manually. But - I still encountered unexpected behaviour: noticing this, I went and exported those same products after the IMPORT completed and the PUBLISHED column was now marked as FALSE. (I never did change the PUBLISHED setting in the web interface or anywhere else at all).
3. Moving onto the BULK Editor - I've noticed further issues - this happens only sometimes and isn't consistently reproduceable.
Note: Going into the product descriptions themselves, the products have the following states:
Product imported using web interface - available in both channels.
Products imported using spreadsheet - available online only.
To reproduce, I select two products (one that was entered in GUI and available on both sales channels, the other was the product that uploaded by spreadsheet as PUBLISHED=TRUE and exported as PUBLISHED=FALSE):
- I enter the BULK Editor with those two products
- First add the field: "Available to Online Store"
- Everything looks normal. Products both have a checkbox under 'Available to Online Store'
- I then add the field 'Available to Point of Sale'
- The check under 'Available to Online Store' unchecks itself and Available to Point of Sale is now checked.
