I'm posting here on the request of a shopify CS agent. The existing chat ticket number is 34549888.
My shopify bought domain will expire soon, and I transferred it to another domain host. I used the provided Shopify transfer code to move it to the new host, this went successfully. However, just as I moved the domain, I got this email from Shopify:
"Your domain has been locked to Shopify's domain service. Locking your domain helps prevent fraudulent transfers of your domain to another hosting company."
Now the domain is visible in the transfers list of the new host, but the following message is displayed by the new host:
"These domains aren’t ready to transfer. You need to unlock them at the current registrar and enter a valid authorization code to finalize the transfer."
My domain is also no longer visible on my admin settings screen on Shopify:
