Why is Shopify Analytics missing conversion events?

Hey there,

For quite some time I've suspected that shopify analytics is now 100% accurate regarding conversion events: add to cart, checkout and purchase. Yesterday for the first time I caught the discrepancy in action - I saw in the live view a customer adding to cart and entering checkout, but in the hours following and the day after, there was no new conversion event.

Did anyone encounter this or have any solution?

Thanks,

Tomer

If you suspect a discrepancy between the live view and the recorded conversion events in Shopify Analytics, there are a few factors to consider and steps you can take to investigate the issue:

  1. Delayed reporting: Sometimes, there can be a delay in reporting the conversion events in Shopify Analytics. It's possible that the conversion event will appear in the analytics report after some time. Keep an eye on the analytics over the next 24-48 hours to see if the event gets recorded.

  2. Tracking code installation: Ensure that the Shopify tracking code is installed correctly on your website. Double-check that the code snippet is present on all relevant pages, including the cart and checkout pages. You can verify this by viewing the page source code or using browser developer tools.

  3. Ad blockers and privacy settings: Ad blockers or privacy settings on the user's browser can interfere with tracking scripts, resulting in missed conversion events. Inform your customers to disable any ad blockers or privacy settings that might block tracking scripts while making a purchase.

  4. Third-party apps and integrations: If you have installed any third-party apps or integrations that interact with the checkout process, they may influence the recording of conversion events. Review and test these apps to ensure they are functioning correctly and not interfering with the tracking.

  5. Test transactions: Conduct test transactions on your store to confirm whether the conversion events are accurately recorded. Make sure to complete the entire purchase process, from adding items to the cart to successfully checking out. Monitor the analytics report to see if the events are recorded correctly.
