Hi There,
I've checked my client website this morning and noticed a huge discrepancy (50% difference for both traffic and revenue) between Google Analytics and Shopify Analytics yesterday.
For the record, until yesterday the accuracy was 95%-100% between the two channels and suddenly something has changed.
I have checked the log and nobody changed anything on the code. Could somebody help me? Thanks a lot!
Best regards,
Francesco

Hi @Frankdigital,
have you tried the Google Analytics Tag Helper if everything is working fine? And how about real time data? Does it work?
A few weeks ago, it happened to one of my clients and we've found out that the problem was in the customer privacy data tracking (activating limiting the data collection for EU). The client had installed an app for customer privacy and the app enabled the tracking somehow).
Maybe you might check it out?

Hi Niki,
Thanks a lot and you were right, the main issue has to do with the limited data collection.
We've sorted the issue and will check again in 24 hours.
Best regards,
Francesco
Hi @Niki_K,
Thanks for your reply.
The issue was related to the limited data collection from Shopify.
Best regards,
Francesco
Hi @Niki_K We are suddenly seeing this issue with one of our merchants too. We have reached out to a GA specialist and they have confirmed that the native Shopify integraton (A UA integration) is reporting the same uplift in traffic that a custom GA4 integration is, so the issue appears to be at Shopify level.
It happened specifically on 19/12/22, and we're stumped about what could be causing this. Any suggestions?
Hey @PhilC1985,
I apologize for the radio silence on my side. It's hard to say what it could help without having access to the data. However, if it happened only on one day, it might have been cause by some errors happening on either GA or Shopify side. If you would like me to investigate it in detail, just write me PM. We can discuss it further. 🙂
Thanks @Niki_K It actually mysteriously sorted itself out, which is both great and annoying at the same time, as we have no idea what happened.
Thanks for responding though. Fingers crossed it remains stable.
