Why is Unit Cost only available in France and Germany?

Shopify states, "Unit prices are available only to stores located in Germany or France."

Why?

I would think that this function should be available globally!

My use case is this: I am running NetSuite for ERP and Celigo to map everything to Plus. However, this basic field (just like the ever missing "locations") is nowhere to be found other than that reference document link.

Can someone explain why or point me in a direction to get this field unlocked? It is cumbersome to run reports in NetSuite and running reports in Shopify is so much nicer.

I need this feature as well. I don't understand why it's only available in France and Germany.
