You have products that aren’t listed on Google

Hello everyone

I've been selling my products through Google Shopping for the last few years.

They are classed as "custom products" in Google because we manufacture them ourselves so there's no MPN or GTIN.

In the last few days, I've got this alert in my Shopify dashboard.

"You have products that aren't listed on Google"

Does anyone know what to do to get them relisted on Google? I have tried deselecting the "This is a custom product" field then reselecting it.

But it doesn't work.

I've attached photos if anyone can take a look and help.

Thank you

Scott

Hi, @ScottBeddoes!

Thanks for reaching out in our Community forums and sharing your concern. I’m happy to help out.

I appreciate you bringing this to our attention. In order to provide some context, the banner on your homepage is essentially saying that a certain amount of products have not been published to Google. However, the figure provided in this banner is likely incorrect as it's possible for certain products to get approved AND show warnings at the same time.

In your case, merchants with custom products cannot remove the warning of 'You need to add a GTIN or MPN'. I know this is not ideal and can cause confusion, so I have shared the information with our developers to look into.

In the meantime, I recommend checking your Google Channel to see if these products are published:

  1. Check the approved products in the Google Channel to see if products are showing as approved with warnings.
  2. Check 'Not approved' products - these issues must be resolved separately with missing attributes in order for the warning to disappear.

Feel free to reply back to this thread with any questions or updates and we can continue our conversation further!

Thank you for getting back to me.

They are showing as "approved" in the Google app with the warning to add GTIN as you mentioned.

I have checked Google search results and they are still appearing in the shopping results, so it seems that everything is ok at the moment.

Thanks for your help!

To get them listed, if they are not approved in Google Merchant Center.

First, always use Google Merchant Center to verify what is or what is not by going to Products > Diagnostics.

If you have disapproval due to missing product identifiers and they are custom goods. The apply feed rules to clear the brand, mpn and of course GTIN, and set identifier exists to no.

Thank you for replying.

They are showing as "approved" for now but I will go into Google Merchant Centre if I have any more problems!

Hi again, @ScottBeddoes!

Thank you for following up and for confirming that everything is working at the moment.

I did, however want to share a few resources that will help you learn more about the Google channel. For instance, we have an awesome guide that goes over how to reach the right shoppers and highlights some key features of a Performance Max campaign. With this, you’ll be able
to automatically reach active shoppers across all of Google’s channels, including YouTube, Search, and the Google Display Network.

I also wanted to share a help resource that covers 21 Effective Ways To Increase Website Traffic which you can use hand and hand with the Google Channel. Feel free to check that out and let me know if you have any questions. I'd be happy to continue our conversation further!
