Tags like (<br>, <b>) in product titles In third-party apps

What is the best way to hide tags like <br> and <b> in product titles in third-party pop-up apps, such as 'recently viewed products' section? 

Do I have to add code in the main-product liquid, within the {{ product.title | escape }} line, or do something within an other liquid file of the third-party-app?
