Updating Dawn theme

I went live with my site on the Dawn theme a little over a year ago. How can I be assured if I update that theme to the latest version, that it will not screw up my site?

Updating your Dawn theme to the latest version is generally safe. Your products, settings, and theme customizations made through Shopify's editor will remain the same. The only thing that won’t transfer automatically is any custom coding you've added (like edits in theme.liquid or custom CSS/JS).

To be safe, duplicate your current theme before updating, install the new version as a separate theme, and test everything before publishing. This way, you can reapply any necessary custom code and ensure nothing breaks.
