Shopify announced an upcoming increase to the 100 variant limit a few months ago. Have they given any update on when this increase will occur?

 I am going to be switching from a free theme to a paid theme soon and I'm wondering if my edits to a paid theme while in "trial mode" will save once I purchase it and activate it? Thanks.
