It can be done by setting up a subdomain and pointing your Shopify account to it.  Something like: checkout.yoursite.com

It reminds me of when Apple screwed up the antenna on the iPhone 4 causing it to drop calls, then told everyone it was a "feature" to help customers know how to hold a phone to their heads.  This is a bug, not a feature, and should be fixed.

Having the same issue. Shopify, get on this, and fix it. It will save you a ton of money in duplicate storage costs.
