Fix is live, but... Not only Storefront API, but the Checkout API also poses some geo-related issues with checkout page. Anyone has a docs link about this weird situation? Like, which countries are most likely having it?
I think that switcher is meant to change the country shipping destination, it's not changing the language or the currency. It is coded into the theme, which is a custom theme.
Which theme are you using? Do you use any apps for creating custom discounts or cart discount rules?

EXPO app: https://apps.shopify.com/expo can help you add extra option choices and additional fee for each choice. You can create unlimited extras and trigger their conditional display as well.
I have to say I prefer the old one.Although the new one presents a more spacious and concentrating editor, the opening tabs will disappear once the page is refreshed, leaving only the most recent tab. 
It looks just fine on the store front. So I guess it’s been a glitch on the preview mode. 
Shopify is already compressing your images so you don’t have to.Pay attention to those code remnants, there might be leftover scripts of those uninstalled apps. 
We had a similar problem in which some custom fields are not delivered well to the order details. It was happening on Safari browser including iOS and desktop. Maybe you can test it from there. 
You can go to the theme directory and search for “product-form” in order to find out the liquid file that contains the template. 
I've tested this case with the Dawn theme using its default settings. And it automatically chooses the first available variant and its variant image to show on first page load. In order to change this workflow, I guess you can consider trying another...
