The apps sited do not do this automatically. You can manually update each order, so that is true, but this is really poorly solved by Shopify right now. 

I totally agree. For a global product/company like Shopify to use such a silly-simple method as which warehouse has inventory to decide from where to ship is really not a solution. That might work if a company has warehouses in perhaps one city, but ...
