I gave this a try yesterday several times, but running the Rule, Regex-replace with the suggested settings gave no effect. It reloads the catalog but with no changes to the products URL, these stay the same. ??

 Review the link parameter under Products Tabs (just click 1 product to open info)So what you are saying is that it should change the URL to mydomain.myshopify.com............?
