Topics covering webhook creation & management, event handling, Pub/Sub, and Eventbridge, in Shopify apps.
Hi,
We often notice product updates not result in firing a product update webhook, see the recent example for the product with ID 1636155424840 that was unpublished:
It has been last updated at 2019-02-25T06:40:58-06:00 according to the REST API but the last webhook we received for this product was at 2019-02-23 16:41:52 UTC. We know that the published_at status of this product changed between the 23rd and the 25th of February without us being notified, which created an inconsistency in our data and affected the normal function of our app.
I was wondering if you had any trace of this particular missing webhook firing in your logs?
Thanks,
Daniel
It would be really great if someone from Shopify could take a look at this!
Hey @Recomatic.
Would you happen to have a more recent example? Happy to take a look in logs, but those will have been cleared by now for this case (we retain 12 days worth). I'm not seeing any updates to that product in logs at the moment, so fresher examples might be better.
Cheers.

Hi @Alex,
Thanks for your answer, here is a fresher example:
Product ID: 1660451160136
Last update on Mon, 11 Mar 2019 15:16:57 UTC and currently unpublished but the most recent webhook we received for it was on Mon, 11 Mar 2019 04:02:05 UTC with a published status.
Please advise!
@Recomatic hey, sorry for the delay. This seems to be tied directly to what is being interpreted as a bug (at the moment) surrounding when products are published or unpublished using the bulk editor within the admin, and a change like that in your case lines up with the timeline you provided. We're not clear internally on how we want these webhook notifications to work, but that is a conversation being had. I'll update this thread as that conversation develops into something more concrete.
Cheers,
