Shopify Cart Webhooks - Extra erroneous data

Hey,

I have been running my Shopify App for the last couple of years and there is a persistent problem that we have faced with the Carts/Create, Checkouts/Create webhooks. The problem is that sometimes we receive activity like an Add to Cart, or Reached Checkout which doesn't actually happen on the store. The Shopify analytics also doesn't show this activity, but it is sent via the webhooks once or twice a week on the 100s of stores that use our app.

This looks like some bot, but I can't figure out why Shopify dashboard ignores this, but still sends it through the webhooks.

Any help in this regard would be appreciated 🙂

Thanks,
Zahid.

Hi @zahid,

I can take a look into what might be causing this for you.  I'll need some more information though, and feel free to provide any of it in a DM if that is better for you.  Things that can help;

  • what app is seeing these problems?
  • ID of cart or checkouts that you are receiving in the webhooks
  • Which shops is this occurring on?

Cheers,

Ryan

I've been facing the exact same issue for years too. Can I know if there was a resolution for your case and what was the root cause?
