How can I add two discount codes via URL in one step checkout?

AI-generated summary

Issue: Applying two discount codes via a URL query (?discount=CODE1,CODE2) worked on the 3‑step checkout but stopped after switching to one‑page checkout. No error appears; discounts simply aren’t applied.

Clarification: Support tested shareable discount URLs and found them working. They note URLs created before the switch might be invalid due to a changed checkout path. The merchant is using cart permalinks with a GET parameter (URL query) pointing directly to /checkout.

Troubleshooting: Support recommends checking cookies to see if the discount is being tracked into checkout. They request the actual permalink or screenshots for deeper investigation and suggest contacting the Live Team for private, store‑specific assistance.

Status: Unresolved and ongoing. Open questions include whether multiple discounts via the discount query on cart permalinks are supported in one‑page checkout and what changes (if any) are needed to make them work.

Hello!

I want to add 2 discount codes using URL and everything worked great for such link https://mystoredomain.com/checkout?discount=CODE1,CODE2. But now after switching to one step checkout it stopped to work. Do you know what’s wrong with this?

Best regards,

Greg

Hi, @Greg_P_1 !

Thanks for sharing your question with our network.

I’d be happy to help investigate this for you. In order to do so, I’m hoping to gather a little more context on the issue.

When replicating this on my end, I didn’t experience any issues with shareable discount URLs so I want to make sure I am not missing any steps. For example, are you trying to use a discount URL you created before switching over to one page checkout? If so, it makes sense that those URLs would be invalid as the checkout path would have changed converting from a 3 page to 1 page process.

On the other hand, if you are experiencing issues with discount code URLs you created after switching to one page checkout, please share some examples with me of the error you see so I can dive deeper with our developers. If you have screenshots available, that would be even better!

I look forward to your reply,

Hello @Olivia_2 ,

I can confirm that shareable discount URL works as expected, but I use different url with GET parameter discount=CODE. So as I mentioned before I always use something like this https://mystoredomain.com/checkout?discount=CODE1,CODE2, link points directly to /checkout and then I am redirected by Shopify to specific checkout url and it works with 3 steps checkout but doesn’t work with 1 step checkout. I’m not able to provide any error message because there is no message, code is not applied at checkout and that’s all.

Thanks for following up with me, @Greg_P_1 !

My apologies I misunderstood that you are working with discount cart permalinks. I realize you haven’t shared your actual store URL so I can offer limited investigation from my end, however, have you tried to check the cookies to see if the discount code is in fact tracking into the checkout?

That can help us further identify the culprit and find out what is preventing the discounts from appearing. If you are unsure how to do that, or if you’d like us to investigate further please share your actual permalink with me here.
