0 desktop URLS at all but mobile fine in Google Search Console

Topic summary

A Shopify site owner reports a puzzling Google Search Console anomaly: their year-old website shows 0 desktop URLs indexed despite receiving balanced organic traffic from both desktop and mobile users. Analytics confirm equal traffic distribution, but GSC displays no desktop URL data while mobile indexing appears normal.

Key Details:

  • Site receives organic traffic from both device types equally
  • Mobile URLs are being indexed properly in GSC
  • Desktop URL count has dropped to zero
  • Screenshots show the discrepancy between analytics (showing desktop traffic) and GSC (showing no desktop URLs)

Community Response:
Another user confirms experiencing the same issue for over a month, describing fluctuating desktop URL counts in GSC—alternating between “all good” and “all bad” before eventually dropping to zero for weeks.

The issue remains unresolved with no explanation yet for why GSC fails to report desktop URLs despite confirmed desktop traffic and proper mobile indexing.
