Selling CBD, peptides, supplements or vapes? Free check of what a payment reviewer would flag on your store

AI-generated summary

A free compliance-check tool was offered for merchants selling high-risk products such as CBD, peptides, supplements, or vapes. The tool scans a Shopify store’s public catalog and policy pages to identify issues that payment reviewers may flag, including restricted product terms, health claims, missing age verification, and shipping limitations. Findings are tied to the relevant policies from Shopify Payments, Stripe, or PayPal.

A key limitation was raised: payment reviewers may also evaluate content injected by third-party apps, such as reviews, subscription tools, loyalty apps, or customer-review widgets. Customer reviews are especially relevant because claims like “this cured my back pain” could be treated as health claims on the merchant’s page.

The tool provider acknowledged the feedback and updated the scan page to disclose this limitation. They also added guidance for merchants to review product pages as customers see them, with apps enabled. The discussion remains open for further feedback, especially reports of incorrect results or missed risks.

If you sell in a category payment providers treat as high-risk, the problem usually shows up months in, when a review reaches your store and payments get limited or payouts held.

We built a free check that reads your store the way a reviewer would. You enter your store address, and it looks at your catalog and policy pages and reports what’s likely to get flagged: products named on processor lists, health claims in product copy, missing age verification, shipping restrictions, and similar. Every finding cites the policy it comes from.

There’s no signup and nothing to install. It reads the public product feed every Shopify store already has.

I’d welcome feedback, especially if it flags something you think is wrong. A false “all clear” is the worst thing a tool like this can give you, so those are the reports I most want to hear about.

This is useful. One thing to flag for merchants reading this: most payment reviewers also scan content added by third-party apps, subscription tools, loyalty platforms, and even customer review apps sometimes inject descriptions or claims. If your checker only looks at native store content, you might want to mention that limitation.

Thank you for the feedback. Well appreciated!

Reviews are the one I’d worry about most. A customer writing “this cured my back pain” on a supplement page reads as a claim on your page to a reviewer, even though you didn’t write it.

I’ve added that limitation to the check’s page, along with a suggestion to look through a few product pages with your apps switched on, the way a customer sees them. Appreciate you pointing it out.
