I have a product where one of the “variations” comes with a secondary product.
Variation 1 = Product A
Variation 2 = Product A + Product B
But when it comes to SKU’s you can only reference 1 sku per. So I can’t reference product A’s sku or product B’s sku in the second variation. The second variation unfortunately has to have it’s own unique SKU. The best solution I can find is to split our inventory count, half going to Variation 1 and half going to variation 2. But this is kind of a headache and such a manual way to track inventory. It’d be great if Product A’s inventory could be referenced for both variations.
You would need to bundle the second variation with the relevant SKUs using an app as Shopify doesn’t have built it bundling option.
Our bundle app will let you connect up all your products to correct SKUs and we then update their inventory based on the component stock level. So in your example both variations stock would update if product A sells either individually or from the bundle.
We also have the additional option of unbundling orders made for a bundled product into the component SKUs post purchase. This way the order lines are only for components and can be fulfilled as per normal.
