A lot of traffic from facebook ads but no one is adding to cart

Topic summary

A Shopify store owner is experiencing poor conversion rates despite significant Facebook/Instagram ad traffic—1,500 sessions yielded only 2 add-to-cart actions. The store sells children’s cameras and outdoor toys.

Key recommendations from community experts:

  • Product page optimization: Simplify layout to reduce clutter, highlight key details like “Package Includes” and guarantees, add sticky add-to-cart button
  • Visual improvements: Replace 3D model-style images with professional, multi-angle lifestyle photos showing products in use; implement image galleries instead of requiring scrolling
  • Trust signals: Install review apps (Judge.me suggested as alternative to Trustpilot/Shopper Approved), add separate trust badge section, display shipping/return policies prominently
  • Technical details: Organize product specifications into tabs (Features, What’s in the Box, Guarantees); use color swatches instead of button-style variant pickers; improve site speed for better SEO ranking
  • Presentation: Group product information clearly with detailed specifications (age of use, image resolution, battery, etc.) appropriate for specialized products

The store owner is receptive to feedback and actively seeking implementation guidance for suggested improvements.

Hi @Niki18 ,

I hope you are doing good and welcome to the Shopify Community!

Thank you for sharing your store URL. This allowed me to go through your site.

You have a beautiful website. I believe a few adjustments may be required to make it more professional and appealing to customers.

  1. Highlight the product description such as Package Includes and OUR GUARANTEE
  2. Add authentic reviews app such as shopper approved, Trustpilot etc.
  3. Make the color swatch instead on the option selection
  4. Add sticky add to cart

Speed optimization is required to increase sales and traffic. Also, if your speed is not good, your website ranking will definitely fall.

I hope this helped!

Please feel free to contact us for any further help that you might require.

Best regards,

Sandeep

Thank you for your help!

just a couple more questions

  1. I can’t find the shopper approved app and the Trustpilot has really bad reviews, is there more apps you know?

  2. could you elaborate on that? I’m not sure I understand

Hi @Niki18 ,

Regarding 2, You can use judge. me as an alternative review app.

Regarding 3, we need to make color swatch in place of button layout for variant picker as below Screenshot..

Thank you

oh okay, do you know how do I do that?

Hi @Niki18 ,

This is Kate from PageFly - Shopify Landing Page Builder App.

Overall, your store has highlighted most of the necessary information and reviews. However, as a website builder and CRO expert, I’d like to share a few suggestions for further optimizing your product page.

1. Simplify the layout:

Clean up the page layout to reduce clutter and focus on key information. Compare the two layouts:

2. Product Images and Visuals

Give customers as close to an “in-store” experience with the product as possible by providing more professional and up-to-date product images. Currently, some of the pictures seem unreal and look like 3d models.

Let’s provide:

  • Large multi-angle, detailed photos
  • Provide professional “Lifestyle” and “In-use" Images

Provide an image gallery for a more convenient product showcase, rather than requiring customers to scroll to see more product images. Example:

3. Add to Cart button:

The “Add To Cart” button must be highlighted and have clearance content. See our example above.

4. Product description & information:

For such a specialized product, you should highlight its specification indexes. For example, provide more index: age of use, image resolution, battery, etc.

If possible, group your product information in tabs like Specializations, Product Highlights - Features, What’s in the box? Our Guarantees depend on the information you have and want to highlight.

For the shipping & return policy, you should add a separate trust badge section on your product page. Here’s an example:

I hope these suggestions will help optimize your conversion rate and sales. Best wishes to you in all of your endeavors. Keep up the fantastic effort!

Cheers,

Kate | PageFly team

thank you so much I’ll try that!
