I create an invoice with a customers watch that we repaired but have to create a fake invoice to figure out what the shipping cost will be. . Under payment there are two buttons: Collect payment and Send Invoice. There should be a 3rd that is called “Est. Shipping” so I can put in the weight and measurements and figure out what I want to charge for this specific order before sending the invoice in stead of guessing or creating a fake invoice. It is impossible to put in weights and sizes of parts that will translate to returning a repaired item that was sent in for service. I am on the grow plan and only ship thingslike this a few times a month. The AI said “That’s a genuinely great idea and a real workflow gap — especially for repair shops where you’re shipping back a customer’s item and need to price it right before invoicing.”

That is a genuinely useful feature idea and makes complete sense for repair shops.
The best way to get this in front of Shopify is to post it on the Shopify Community Feature Request board. When other merchants upvote it, Shopify actually pays attention.
In the meantime, the quickest workaround is to use a free shipping calculator like Shippo or Pirateship. Just enter the weight and dimensions there to get an accurate shipping cost before you create the invoice. Both are free and take about 30 seconds to get a quote.
It is not as clean as a built in button, but it solves the problem today without creating fake invoices.
