Sharing my solution to abandoned checkouts recently. It’s been frustrating finding 5 to 10 false abandoned carts everyday. All were coming from the different names and email address, purportedly from countries all around the world that I don’t even ship to, but all had the same shipping address.
I tried various apps to block them, which didn’t work. Tried blocking the ISP addresses, which also didn’t work.
So finally this is what I did, and must say it’s been successful so far. Note: this will only work if the shipping address is all located at the same place, as mine was. Whatever state, or province it is from untick that option in your shipping overnight (or at a time you feel it won’t be a hindrance to people from that state/province) The bots next attempt will come through, but with failed shipping. It goes silent for two or three days, then they attempt again and fail. After that they haven’t tried my store anymore. Worth a try. I seem to have got rid of them for several weeks and if they try again I shall do the same.
Only thing that happens for real customers is that they get to checkout and find there is no shipping option for them, a little icon keeps spinning around. But if they’re true customers they’ll likely try again. In the morning when you get up just retick that state/province as available for shipping and all good. Good luck and hope you have luck sorting it out too.
For anyone who needs help finding the shipping options:
>Settings
>Shipping and Deliver
>Rates for (your country or country the bots shipping address is in)
>Click on the … then edit zone
>Click on where it says States and Territories/Province etc and untick the state or territory or province that the bot’s shipping address is located in.
>Remember to turn it on again in the morning so real customers can check out.
>After first failed attempt the bot will go quiet for 2 to 3 days, then attempt again and eventually seems to give up.
Please let me know how you go and if it worked for you .
