Hi,

After reading loads of topics complaining about this problem, and going back and forth with french shopify support that are completely useless, i’m posting this message to see if we can push something to happen.

Here is the problem only on shopify (never happend on magento for 12 years with mollie payments) :

  • When a customer doesn’t validate his payment during checkout, like not entering the 3d secure code, shopify does a bank imprint anyway on the customer’s bank account for the abandoned card process. The customer then look at his bank, sees the charge and calls very unhappy… which is understandable because he has abandoned his cart

Support specialist (abby), who can only ask around and copy what tech says, explains that this charge should be reverted 24/48h and then disappears from the customer’s bank statement. With an average of 10-20 abandoned cards per day, on the 2 month i’ve been using shopify, i think this is a ticking time bomb.

If you guys can help me on this that would be much appreciated. I have read this problem on shopify forums since 2021 and the solution was always the same, no solution !! Mollie payments does almost a million in transaction for us on magento and i’ve never had a customer complaining about an abandoned cart being charged on his bank account.

Regard,

Hi Booby,

Thank you for your fast response. I’ve integrated mollie on shopify for now as a bug patch that works correctly, but i will keep pressure on them to fix this so that i can move completely to shopify payments. I’ve migrated from magento to avoid custom work and extra cost, that road is 100% recipe for pilled up cost and non stop headache haha I’m not going there again.

It’s a simple yet crucial fix that should be achievable by keeping the discussion open
