Abandoned Checkout Email Are Not Sending For Custom Channel

We built our own Shopify Sales channel using the admin API’s cart create function. We noticied that we cannot send cart abandonment emails because “this checkout was not created by the Online Store or Buy Button sales channel.”

Would anyone know how to get around this limitation?

One workaround would be to fetch the abandoned checkouts via the API and send the emails yourself.
