Accepting clients staff invitations from same IP Address

I’m advertising a Shopify store service. It requires clients to sent me staff invitation then I go in and build out their store quickly.

My concern is that, there will be 100 clients a day sending me staff invitations to the same email and I’m accepting them all under the same email, same ip address, completing their stores and removing myself all within 24 hours. This is on a daily basis.

My concern is that Shopify may find my IP address as suspicious or trigger security measures because of this behavior. I don’t think they will but it’s still a concern of mine.

How can I protect my ip address triggering Shopify security measures? Or if it shouldn’t even be a concern. Thank you

You should create a Shopify Partner account (https://www.shopify.com/ca/partners) and then you can do collaborator accounts (https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/your-account/staff-accounts/collaborator-accounts).

There are no limits on the number of collaborator accounts a store can have, and no limits on the number of stores you can have access to via your partners account. Your clients wouldn’t have to remove your access when you’re done (in case they need further help at a later date), and there wouldn’t be any issues on Shopify’s end, in terms of your IP address.

My issue with this approach is that it adds an extra step. I would need clients to send me their Shopify URl so I can send them collaborator requests, and then they would have to accept it. Whereas, if they sent me a staff invitation, it’s only one step for them.

I noticed a lot of clients would opt-out if they need to do extra steps.

You’re not going to be building out 100 stores per day. Even if you’re the fastest Shopify store builder in the world, you wouldn’t be able to do more than 2-3 stores per day (and they’d be super low-quality stores at that rate). Most decent stores take a minimum of a few days each to set up (and that’s provided that everything is organized and ready for you before you start) … a high quality store can take weeks to set up.

The extra step involved in accepting a collaborator account is worth it on the merchant’s end, as your collaborator account won’t count towards their staff members limit. It would be even more work for the merchant, if they had to remove a staff member, to make room for your account, if you didn’t use a collaborator account.
