Hi everyone, I need help with a theme customization issue related to Shopify Markets. When I first started building my store, I accidentally made all my design and layout edits under the “United Kingdom” market instead of the “Default” market. Now, when I switch to the Default market in the theme editor, it doesn’t show any of my homepage sections or settings — it’s essentially blank. The problem is, Shopify doesn’t allow me to export or access the UK market settings via the code editor (settings_data.json only shows the Default), and duplicating the theme or exporting it just keeps pulling the Default version, at least i think. I’d like to make the UK version my new default, or at least transfer its settings to the Default market without manually recreating everything. Is there a way to do this that I’m missing? Thanks in advance!
Topic summary
A Shopify store owner accidentally built their entire theme customization (homepage sections, layout, settings) under the United Kingdom market instead of the Default market. Now the Default market appears blank in the theme editor.
Key challenges identified:
settings_data.jsonin the code editor only reflects Default market settings, not UK-specific ones- Theme duplication and export functions appear to pull only the Default version
- Manual recreation of all customizations would be time-consuming
Desired outcome:
Either make the UK market version the new default, or transfer all UK settings to the Default market.
Current status:
The issue remains unresolved and ongoing. At least one other user has reported experiencing the same problem, but no solutions have been shared in the thread yet.
