We are using the Data Feed Watch app to build our feed for Google Merchant Center. All works well, but we need to include the ‘availability date’ information for products that have zero inventory, but still available for purchase (in other words the items will be submitted to Google as ‘backorder’). We have access to the availability date info from our manufacturer of these products (provided in a daily inventory update via. spreadsheet), but Shopify lacks an area for that information to live within a product (i.e. date field). Does anyone have suggestions on how to include this info in our feed or how to include it in the Merchant Center so that our products will continue to show within their shopping channel? Thanks!
You can edit the ‘availability date’ manually in the product edit section, switch to 'advanced settings and add the availability date to each product as shown in the screenshot below:
Ese, you can also use our app, Nabu, for Google Shopping Feed; this will allow you to bulk update the ‘availability date’ and update it automatically so that your products continue to show in Google Shopping.
Let me know if you need any assistance with the merchant center setup from our end.
Hi @Kevin_Smith5 , there is also the option of submitting a CSV file - with the matching item_ID and availability date as a supplemental feed in Google Merchant Center.
This would become part of the final product feed in Google Merchant Center.
Thank you Claricelin, Do you know if there would be a way to map using an alternative field such as the product SKU? We receive our availability data direct from our manufacturer and would be easiest to map using more identifiable data. I appreciate the advice and assistance here. Thank you.
Thank you Sampymishra. I am unfamiliar with the screen you have sent. In which platform do you get advanced settings for product pricing/availability? Is there a way to update those fields en masse (approx. 1500 products a day)? With Nabu, what would the best way be to take data from an external spreadsheet and apply to specific product data in the feed that is pulled from Shopify product data? Thank you for your assistance.
Google Merchant Center only uses the field: (item) ID as the unique identifier. If you set your SKU number to be the item ID as well, it could be an alternative workaround.
