hello, I started off my website with godaddy, didn’t like customer service and transferred my domain to shopify. they are now asking me to prove that I still own the domain and gave me a unique code to put into shopify. I have no clue how to do this. Can someone help me please? Thank-you

To confirm, are you looking to transfer your domain from GoDaddy to Shopify, or do you want to keep your domain in GoDaddy and just connect it to your Shopify store? If you’re not sure, you can read about the differences in this help document. That help document also provides you the steps on how to accomplish each option (either connecting your domain or transferring it).
With the message you received stating “Action Required: Prove That You Own The Domain Before We Can Issue Your SSL”, did you receive that message from Shopify or GoDaddy?

hello thank-you. My Domain was in godaddy and then I transferred it t shopify several months ago. I received an email from them saying that they need to know that I need to prove that I still own the domain. So, they gave me a code to put somewhere in my shopify and then send it to them. Below is the email they sent to me. I looked at the instructions they gave me and I couldn’t figure it out. I called them and they said I had to reach out to shopify if I didn’t understand

Thanks for getting back to me with that information. I can definitely provide you the steps for editing your DNS settings for your Shopify domain, however, you may want to confirm with GoDaddy why you need to do this for them. If your domain is now hosted by Shopify and used on your Shopify store, GoDaddy shouldn’t have to confirm your ownership of the domain. This is, of course, up to you, but just something to think about!
If you wanted to go ahead with confirming your ownership, the easiest way would be by doing option 1 (Update your domain’s DNS). Before doing this, I recommend reading up on DNS records (we have a helpful terminology guide here) as removing or changing DNS records can break the connection between your domain and Shopify.
Once you’re comfortable, you can follow the steps in this guide to add or edit a DNS record on your Shopify-hosted domain. If you’d feel more comfortable going through the steps with us, you can contact our live support team through the Help Center who can walk you through it.
