Ad hoc products, and products not in the catalogue

Hi Guys,

We sell records, in-store we sell 2nd hand records, we cannot catalog these so need to be able to take ad-hoc payments. So, we need the following:

Set up custom tiles for 99c, €1.99, €2.99, €3.99,€4.99,€9.99 etc.

A variable product price named “2nd Hand” where we can add an amount in ourselves.

How do we do this? Are there a couple of guides to help?

David

Hi @DavidModus

Let’s see, so you’re trying to create a product called second that you would use to create payments when someone buys a 2nd hand record in your store?

Sort of…

Set up custom “tiles” for 99c, €1.99, €2.99, €3.99,€4.99,€9.99 etc. on the POS, each of these would be a product.

A variable product price named “2nd Hand” where we can add an amount in ourselves. Also a tile on the POS but with a price that can be entered manually.

Two things, do you know of a guide that can help?

Sharing with you a Shopify documentation that could help you on this: Make a custom sale in Shopify POS · Shopify Help Center

Should that help answer your query, we always appreciate liking & marking an as answer to let the community find quality solutions faster. Thanks!

This may not be helpful as it isn’t something I do myself and do not have POS…however, do you know about creating custom orders? You are able to create a draft order from within admin which you can either attach an existing product or “Add custom item” - give it a name and set a price.

Here is Shopify’s guide for creating draft orders: https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/orders/create-orders

Edit: looks as though @JHKCreate has found an even easier solution for POS
