Add a download file followed by a 'thank you' page after the user downloaded it

Hi,

For our shop we are looking at a way to offer our users the following possibility: they can download a PDF template which they can use to draw their artwork on.

Now adding a link that downloads a PDF is easy in Shopify. Where it gets difficult is that we would like to, when the user clicks ‘download PDF’, also a new page opens up. A sort of ‘Thank you’ page where they can write themselves in for a e-mail newsletter. As far as I tried, downloading a PDF is easy but adding an action to open a new page doesn’t seem to be possible.

There are a lot of apps out there that only do one part or are really only suitable for selling digital products (not relevant for us). This does not fit with the specific workflow we are looking for.

Does anybody have an idea if something like this workflow would be possible in Shopify?

From Shopify dashboard, go to settings > Checkout and accounts > Order status page

Please enter below script their

Replace helloworld with your URL you want to open.

Wow, thanks for your help. I was just wondering: your solution is specifically for the order status page but could you use the same script on a regular page?
