Add a tag to order when a packing slip is printed

Hi,

I’d like to add a tag “Packing_slip_printed” to order as soon we print a packing slip. We can sync tags to the shipping tools, and then we would filter orders by this tag to only print shipping labels for these orders.

Ideally this would be done with Shopify Flow, but I don’t see a trigger for “packing slip printed”.

Not sure how you are printing them, but I don’t know that there is a way to detect when a packing slip is printed.

Hi Paul, thanks for your answer.

We print them in the Orders menu - we select orders that we want to fulfill, an option “Print” shows up, and we select “Print packing slips”.

Do you know of any workarounds we could use to get that tag on these orders (besides doing it manually)?

That action technically just generates a PDF. The actual printing happens outside Shopify. Not really sure what can be done there as a workaround.

Check out PrintTag in the app store—when you print, there’s a checkbox that auto-tags every order with whatever label you want (like “Printed”). No manual work, works with bulk printing too. Figured I’d share since this question comes up a lot and Flow genuinely can’t do it.whatever you decide for it to say aka ”Printed”
