Add a text box on the payment page

I am looking to add a text box to the payment page, preferably between the payment options and the shipping, but it’s not terrible if it were somewhere else.

Basically I am trying to have a space where a customer can enter in a PO# if needed.

There are currently two methods to incorporate a text box and other UI elements into your Shopify checkout: by modifying the checkout.liquid file or utilizing the Checkout UI Extension. However, it’s important to note that the checkout.liquid file will be deprecated in August 2024. After this date, the only method to customize the checkout UI will be through the Checkout UI Extension. This extension enables the addition of text boxes and other UI components to the checkout process. So basically, I need to setup an entire CLI enviroment just for a simple text box?

Or, I guess the other option would simply be buy an app, which appears to be Shopify’s montra.
