I don’t think there’s a way to add timeline comments or events, something I’ve been wanting to do for years now.
In the meantime, you could try to think of alternative ideas, for example:

add order notes

add order additional details
-
tag the order
-
if it’s necessary to be in the timeline, create an auto notification to staff, to then add the comment
