This is less of a question, and more of a suggestion. My business just switched to Shopify from Clover. I am reading that many have had the issue of needing to do a custom return amount with no information necessary from a previous order. I wanted to make this post, to bring this issue back to the light, as myself, and I know many others are still struggling without this option, and many have been for years. PLEASE ADD THIS OPTION!
Topic summary
-
Request: Add capability in Shopify Point of Sale (POS) to process a refund for any custom amount without referencing a previous order.
-
Rationale: Merchants switching from systems like Clover relied on this for ad-hoc returns, partial adjustments, or cases where an order record isn’t available.
-
Reported impact: Multiple merchants say the absence of this option makes refunds hard to process; some claim this limitation has persisted for years.
-
Recent activity: A participant asked for an update; the original poster confirmed there has been no reply or solution.
-
Status: No official response, decisions, or timelines were shared. The request remains open and unresolved.
-
Key terms: POS = Point of Sale. “Custom refund amount” = issuing a refund not linked to a specific historical order.
Hi, any reply on this one yet? We are finding it hard to process refunds too.
Nothing unfortunately.
