Hi All
I have a shop where I sell my handmade and personalized gifts. I offer customers the option to “Rush My Order”, where I will fulfil their order ahead of other orders so I can post it out quicker. This comes with a Fee to pay.
I want to have an extra drop down on the car page which will allow customers to choose the option to rush their order. This could simply be a Tick box, with some text beside it to explain what it does. When ticked, it adds an extra product to their cart, and when its unticked it removes the product from the cart.
First things first, is this possible to do?
If so, are there any apps that could help me do this? Or a place to post to find a developer who could do it adhoc for my Store.

Back to your question, there are some of the following ways to do this.
- Product variants:
You can add this as an option to your product as varients. Like normal/rush my order.
- Fast delivery (Recommend):
Or you can add a delivery option, like Rush my order and charge extra fees from customers for fast delivery.

Thanks for the suggestions @osamafarooqi71 . We have considered these before and these are the reasons why I didn’t do them.
1) Product variants:
I only want the customer to be able to select the Rush My Order option “once”. It will be confusing, and costly for them, if it was a product variant on all products because if they were buying multiple different types of products, and they select the Rush My Order on each of them, then it will add the fee multiple times. This would either put customers off when they get to the Cart because the are paying 1,2, etc… Rush Fees. Or they do make the order, paying all the fees, and we would have an admin overhead of refunding them where they didn’t need to pay the extra fees.
2) Fast delivery:
We didn’t do this because we are not offering faster “delivery”. The delivery type and cost remains the same. The Rush My Order option is for us to speed up our “processing/turnaround” time. We don’t want to confuse customers thinking they are paying for faster delivery once we have made and dispatched it. We have had this before on another sales platform, so we don’t want to do it here on Shopify too.
We feel like the better option is to give the customer the ability to pay for fast processing only once, and for that option to only be available at the Cart.
I appreciate your offer to help as well and will keep that in mind. For now, I will keep looking around to see what other options might be available too.
Hello @Kremblance , thanks for sharing this. Yes, you can add this in cart and also limit the customer to add only one product item to cart using custom coding.
For this, you’ll need to create a product and then display it on cart page as upsell product. Then once the customer add this product to cart then you’ll need custom coding to limit customer to add more items to cart. This could be achieve using HTML, CSS and JavaScript with some Liquid coding part.
If you’re a developer, please do let me know so I can share the more algorithm to implement this, else hiring an expert to do this is recommended.
